Hoag Physician Chosen to Participate in Nation's Most Prestigious Leadership Program for Health Care Professionals
Newport Beach, Calif., April 3, 2013 — Dr. Allyson Brooks, executive medical director of the Women’s Health Institute at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian, has been selected for what is widely considered the nation’s most prestigious leadership program for medical professionals.
Brooks is one of only ten professionals nationwide named to the 2013 class of The Academy GE Fellowship Program for Physician Executives. Founded in 2006, the prestigious two-year program seeks to accelerate the professional development of physicians such as Brooks who are considered “high-potential leaders” within large health care systems.
Fellows are nominated by their health system after consideration of distinguishing personal characteristics – for example, the candidate has been described as an “up and comer” within the organization; is committed to leadership with a track record of success; has followed a pathway to corporate responsibility, and shows motivation for continued growth. Her nomination by the Senior Leadership at Hoag is a testament to her aptitude as a leader and the admiration she has garnered from her peers, as well as the organization’s commitment to develop physician leaders.
Dr. Brooks was one of five health care professionals chosen for the program’s CMO Executive Leadership Curriculum, which focuses on physician alignment, performance and relations, patient safety, new delivery system and integration models, clinical transformation and change management, and regulatory affairs.

During the intensive program, Fellows take part in a comprehensive series of health system executive meetings, study in-depth the challenges facing today’s leading health systems, and explore approaches to addressing them. They also collaborate with Fellows Program peers, receive coaching from senior executive mentors and executive leaders of the nation’s largest health systems, and learn business practices and leadership techniques from corporate leaders.
